Help us make HIV prevention more accessible

Dear TBFighters,

As we shared in a previous email, Gilead is currently refusing to sell their game-changing HIV medication, Lenacapavir, to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF/Doctors Without Borders). 

Lenacapavir is essential not only in the fight against HIV but also to fight against TB. TB is the leading cause of death among people living with HIV. An estimated 30% of AIDS-related deaths worldwide are due to TB, and, according to the 2020 Global TB Report, people living with HIV are 18 times more likely to develop active TB disease than people without HIV. That is why fighting TB and HIV go hand in hand.

What can we do about Gilead?

The best thing we can do right now is to tell Gilead to make Lenacapavir available to all! Let’s give them some encouragement to do the right thing by mail, email, phone, fax, and social media:

Also, spread the word! Tell your friends and family about Gilead and their refusal to sell Lenacapavir to MSF, which restricts access to middle-income countries.

The Ask

Through the “Two Shots. $40. Everywhere” campaign, MSF and TBFighters are advocating for immediate increased access to LEN everywhere.

We are calling on Gilead to:

  1. Reduce the price of LEN to less than $40 per person per year, to make the drug affordable for all LMICs.

  2. Increase LEN production and make more supply readily available to meet actual demand and need in all LMICs.

  3. Sell LEN directly at a fair price to MSF and others who want to rapidly expand HIV prevention efforts around the world.
